Abstract
A carbon fiber having a fiber diameter of at least 15 .mu.m, a tensile modulus of elasticity of more than 104 ton/mm.sup.2 and a spread L of graphite crystallites in the direction of axis a of at least 1,000 .ANG. as determined from the powder X-ray spectrum.
