Abstract
The invention provides use of the 5'-leader sequence of an RNA virus up to the first initiation codon of the viral RNA (or a derivative or portion thereof), either as RNA or a complementary DNA, as an enhancer of translation of mRNA when the 5'- leader RNA is contiguous with the mRNA.
