Abstract

Disclosed herein is a method of forming color images with color inks including a cyan ink on a recording material provided with an ink-receiving layer, which contains basic magnesium carbonate and has a dry coat weight of from 1 to 15 g/m.sup.2, wherein at least one of the cyan ink and one or more another inks to form mixed-color areas with the cyan ink contains a surface active agent, wherein a cyan dye contained in the cyan ink is represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein M means an alkali metal atom, an ammonium ion or an organic amine residue, m stands for a number of from 1 to 4, and is a number of from 0 to 3.
