Abstract
A silver halide photographic element comprising a silver halide emulsion layer sensitized with a sensitizing dye of formula (I) which provides a maximum sensitivity at greater than 700 nm and which emulsion layer has substantially no dye deaggregating compound therein: ##STR1## wherein: X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 are independently sulfur, selenium or oxygen provided that X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 are not both oxygen and either benzo ring may be substituted or unsubstituted;
