Abstract

An oral gel composition suitable for application to teeth and gums, particularly of people having dental implants. The gel composition contains an aqueous orally acceptable gel vehicle, a substantially water-insoluble noncationic antibacterial antiplaque agent, such as 2,4,4'-trichloro-2'-hydroxyl-diphenyl ether (triclosan) and an antibacterial-enhancing agent which enhances delivery of said antibacterial agent to, and retention thereof on, oral surfaces. The gel composition is extruded from a syringe into contact with a dental implant area thereby causing the composition to be delivered to and retained on the dental implant area.
