Abstract

An open-face fishing reel of the fixed-spool type comprises a housing, a spindle element non-rotatably arranged in the housing, a handle for rotating a drive shaft, mounted in the housing, and a rotor which is rotatable by rotation of the drive shaft. A hollow line spool shaft is non-rotatably arranged on a sleeve-shaped front member of the spindle element and rotatably supports a line spool. An oscillating mechanism is arranged in the front spindle member to impart to the line spool an axial oscillating motion about a center of oscillation as the rotor rotates. An adjusting mechanism is arranged for setting the center of oscillation in a desired position along the front spindle member. The adjusting mechanism comprises a slide which is arranged in the housing and is connected to a rear member of the spindle element and is displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the spindle element, and an adjusting member which is operable from the outside of the housing and engages with the slide for displacing the slide and, together with this, the spindle element and, thus, the oscillating member in the longitudinal direction of the spindle element and, thus, moving the center of oscillation of the line spool to the desired position.
