Abstract
There is provided a method of producing an organopolysiloxane with a low polymerization degree in a high yield, comprising a step of allowing a monochlorosilane represented by the following general formula (I) and hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane to undergo ring-opening reaction in the presence of a quaternary ammonium salt represented by the following general formula (II) and a step of hydrolyzing the reaction product: ##STR1## wherein R groups are the same or different, and each group represents an alkyl group containing 1 to 18 carbon atoms, an aryl group or a hydrogen atom;
