Abstract

A method is provided for the treatment of hypersensitive intestinal diseases (irritable bowel syndrome) comprising the administration of a tetrahydroimidazopyridine derivative of the formula: ##STR1## wherein either one of X and Y is nitrogen and the other one is a radical represented by the formula .dbd.C(R.sup.1)--; and R can be ##STR2## in which R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are same or different hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, and salts thereof.
