Abstract

Disclosed herein are analgesic copper coordination compounds and a process for using them in the treatment of analgesia in animal bodies. The copper coordination compounds utilized are the reaction products of copper salts with: 1. carboxylic acids or their alkaline earth salts; 2. aromatic carboxylic acids or their alkaline earth salts; 3. heterocyclic carboxylic acids or their alkaline earth salts; 4. amino acids or their alkaline earth salts; 5. anthranilic acids or their alkaline earth salts; 6. salicylic acids or their alkaline earth salts; 7. acetylsalicylates or their alkaline earth salts; 8. arylacetic acids or their alkaline earth salts; 9. disubstituted aminodithiocarbamates, and mixtures of any of the above. The process disclosed comprises administering to animals, orally or parenterally, in controlled dosages, the aforementioned copper coordination compounds.
