Abstract
A universal milling and drilling machine provided with a swivel milling head for an automatic reset from horizontal to vertical machining. The driving of the work spindle is carried out by a driving motor via bevel gears and a shift transmission which ensures a high torque even in a low rotation speed range. For optimizing the power transmission between the driving motor and the work spindle, the shift transmission is arranged in the swivel milling head, and the bevel gear transmission is seated directly on the motor shaft of the driving motor.
