Abstract
C.sub.8-18 alkyl aldonolactone esters which have anionic and nonionic surfactant characteristics are disclosed. A process for preparing the esters enzymatically as well as personal product, cosmetic, detergent and oral hygiene compositions containing the compounds which take advantage of their dual surfactant quality, are also disclosed.
