Abstract

A pyrotechnic composition, particularly for fireworks, which contains an organic compound having at least one aromatic group as a binder. The compound preferably has a weight ratio of carbon:hydrogen of at least 10:1 and is substantially free of groups of the formulae COOH or COO.sup.-M.sup.+, wherein M.sup.+ is the equivalent of a metal ion. Also, pyrotechnic devices containing such composition.
