Abstract
Benzopyran derivatives which have an inhibitory effect on the Maillard reaction as well as an antioxidizing effect are described herein. These derivatives may be utilized in the treatment and/or prevention of diabetic complications such as, for example, coronary heart disease, peripheral circulatory insufficiency or failure, cerebrovascular hindrance, neurogenous diabetes, nephropathy, arteriosclerosis, arthrosclerosis, cataracts and retinopathy. Further, the derivatives may also be used in the treatment and/or prevention of diseases induced by aging and in the treatment and/or prevention of diseases caused by the formation of peroxidized fat.
