Abstract
A pitch based impregnant for a carbon or graphite body and a method of impregnation. The method involves forming a liquid solution of a substantially solids free pitch having a Q.I. of less than 1% dissolved in furfural and containing an acid catalyst with the solution having a viscosity of less than 150 cps at room temperature and heating the impregnated body to between 150.degree.-200.degree. C. until the impregnant is cured.
