Abstract
A turret type precision winder having a turret disc on which a pair of bobbin chucks are held for carrying a working bobbin and an empty bobbin, respectively. A yarn winding operation is carried out on the working bobbin to form a package while a contact pressure is being applied on the package through a pressure roller. The pressure roller is controlled to be maintained at substantially a fixed position while the bobbin chuck of the working bobbin stepwisely moves away from the pressure roller. A positional relationship between the pressure roller, the bobbin chuck and a swingable member for supporting the pressure roller is defined so that a radial component f.sub.1 of the contact pressure reduces as a package diameter increases.
