Abstract

A method and apparatus for an improved user interface for indicating a current keyboard operating mode for a computer having a small keyboard with multi-function keys. An iconic indicator is displayed for indicating a current mode of operation of the keyboard which allows a user to easily determine an expected response from keys actuated in a particular keyboard mode.
