Abstract

A silver halide emulsion is provided, which comprises silver halide twinned-crystal grains and satisfy the following requirements (1) and (2): (1) the longest distance between twin planes is within the range of 10 to 100 .ANG. on the average, (2) said silver halide grains each comprise a core comprising silver iodobromide having a silver iodide content of not less than 7 mol % and a shell comprising one or more layers different in halide composition from each other, in which at least one layer of the shell comprises silver iodobromide or silver bromide, the outermost layer having a silver iodide content of 0 to 4 mol %.
