Abstract
The preparation of isoxazole-4,5-dicarboxylic diester of the formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is any organic radical which is inert under the reaction conditions, and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are each alkyl, cycloalkyl or benzyl, entails reacting an aldoxime of the formula II ##STR2## with a diester of maleic or fumaric acid, of the formula III
