Abstract

Improvement in the technique of synthesizing prostaglandins, particularly those having at least one halogen atom at the 16- or 17-position, which comprises introducing a .omega. chain into the aldehyde thereby to enable considerable yield improvement in the production of .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated ketones, and which does not involve hydrogen generation and can insure safe operation.
