Abstract

A method is provided for inhibiting or preventing toxicity and other unwanted effects (a) caused by solvents for pharmaceuticals which solvents contain castor oil or ricinoleic acid or derivatives thereof, such as Cremophor, or (b) caused by a drug, such as cyclosporine A, dissolved or suspended in solvents such as ricinoleic acid or castor oil or derivative thereof, employing a thromboxane A.sub.2 receptor antagonist. Solvent compositions containing ricinoleic acid or castor oil or derivatives thereof and a thromboxane A.sub.2 receptor antagonist, and pharmaceutical compositions including a drug, solvent containing ricinoleic acid or castor oil or derivative thereof, and a thromboxane A.sub.2 receptor antagonist are also provided.
