Abstract

A process for the production of ambergris-type labdane spiroketals of general formulae I and II ##STR1## where R represents oxygen or sulphur, useful in the perfumery industry, the said process being characterized by the intramolecular cyclisation of the epoxyketone or its thio analog of general formula III ##STR2## where R.sub.1 represents COCH.sub.3 and R.sub.2 oxygen or sulphur.
