Abstract
The reaction of methyl p-hydroxybenzoate and a .alpha.,.omega.-alkanediol, in the presence of a transesterification catalyst, such as a metal alkoxide and/or metal acetate, can be used to synthesize an .alpha.,.omega.-bis(p-hydroxybenzoyloxy)alkane monomer.
