Abstract
There is disclosed a recordable optical element that includes a recording layer. The element has a transparent substrate and on the surface of the substrate, a) a recording layer containing a light absorbing material and b) a light reflecting layer, the improvement wherein said light absorbing material has the structure: ##STR1## wherein; R is hydrogen, alkyl having from 1 to about 20 carbons, substituted or substituted aryl from about 6 to 10 carbon atoms;
