Abstract

1-Methyl-2-phenoxy ethanol of the formula, ##STR1## [wherein R is hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and n is an integer of 0 or 1 to 5] is allowed to react with ammonia in a solvent in the presence of a copper-chromium catalyst and hydrogen, whereby 1-phenoxy-2-aminopropane of the formula ##STR2## [wherein R and n are as defined above] can be obtained at high yields at high selectivity.
