Abstract

Beta-hydroxyalkyl-bis(alkylthiomethylphenyl) dithiophosphate esters represented by the formulas ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each H, a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.40) alkyl group, --CH.sub.2 SR, --C.sub.6 H.sub.5 or --C.sub.6 H.sub.4 --R.sub.5 providing at least one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is --CH.sub.2 SR; R.sub.4 is H or a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.40) alkyl group; R is H or a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.40) alkyl group, --C.sub.6 H.sub.5 or --C.sub.6 H.sub.4 --R.sub.5 ; and R.sub.5 is a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.40) alkyl group.
