Abstract
Apparatus and method which records and reproduces title data with video and audio data on oblique tracks on a recording medium. The video and audio data are recorded in video and audio regions, respectively, of the oblique tracks while leaving vacant predetermined title regions in the respective oblique tracks. Title data having title and title control information is recorded in the title regions of the respective tracks. The title, video and audio data are reproduced from the respective tracks on the recording medium, and the title information is combined with the video data in accordance with the title control information to produce a video output signal.
