Abstract

An aqueous dispersion is provided which comprises water, a dispersant and a linear or branched chain saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon. The dispersant is of the general formula ##STR1## wherein R and R.sub.1 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl; R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl group; x is about 8 to about 112 and y is about 1 to about 1,370. The aliphatic hydrocarbon is either linear or branched chain and has a molecular weight of from about 300 to about 5,000. Such dispersions have particular applicability in water based inks and overprint varnishes.
