Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for preparing alkali metal 3-sulfobenzoates. 3-(Chlorosulfonyl)benzoic acid is admixed with an aqueous alkali metal chloride solution, the mixture is heated and, after reaction, cooled to .ltoreq.15.degree. C. and the crystallized alkali metal 3-sulfobenzoate is separated off.
