Abstract
The compounds of this invention are 5- or 6-deoxy hexose monosaccharides having a saturated nitrogen-containing heterocycle at the 5- or 6-position bound through the nitrogen atom. The saturated nitrogen-containing heterocycle substituent is shown by the following formula: ##STR1## where X is CH.sub.2, NH or O; and n ranges from 3-6. These hexose monosaccharides may also be ethereally substituted at least one other position. The compounds exhibit anti-proliferative and anti-inflammatory activity. Methods of preparation, pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds and methods of treating inflammatory and/or autoimmune disorders employing the compounds are disclosed.
