Abstract

An antihypertensive method comprising administering to a hypertensive patient a pharmaceutical agent containing lithospermic acid B represented by the formula: ##STR1## and/or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, for example, Mg.sup.2+, K.sup.+, NH.sub.4.sup.+ and Ca.sup.2+ salts thereof, as an effective ingredient.
