Abstract

A xanthine derivative of the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are the same or different and are substituted or unsubstituted alicyclic alkyl; m1 and m2 are the same or different and represent an integer of 0 to 2; and Q represents ##STR2## (in which R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are the same or different and are substituted or unsubstituted alicyclic alkyl) or ##STR3## (in which n is 0 or 1, and Y is a single bond or alkylene); or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is disclosed. This derivative has diuretic activity and renal protecting activity.
