Abstract
A magnetic recording medium comprising a non-magnetic support having thereon an undercoating layer and a magnetic layer, wherein the undercoating layer is provided between the non-magnetic support and magnetic layer, and a binder used for the undercoating layer comprises a resin having an elution amount of 0.05 to 0.4 mg/cm.sup.2 when placed in a mixed solvent of methyl ethyl ketone and cyclohexanone having a weight ratio of 1:1 at 25.degree. C. for 30 seconds.
