Abstract

The .beta.-oxo-.beta.-benzenepropanethioamide derivative of the present invention has potassium channel opening action and is useful for treatment of hypertension, asthma, hypersensitive colon syndrome, and enteritis through pharmacological actions including blood vessel dilation, bronchial tract dilation, relaxation of gastrointestinal tract smooth muscle, and the like. The present invention also includes a pharmaceutical composition containing, as the active ingredient, the compound of the present invention and a method for producing the same.
