Abstract
A process for esterifying a polymer containing carboxyl(ate) groups, by maintaining the polymer at 0.degree. C. to 200.degree. C., where the counterion for the carboxylate groups is a selected ammonium or sulfoxonium ions. Such processes are useful for preparing improved films and coatings, particularly automotive coatings.
