Abstract
There is disclosed a wearproof floating magnetic head slider adapted for a lap top computer. The magnetic head utilizes the contact/start & stop system. A protective film of a high hardness is formed at least on parts of the sliding surface of the slider. The protective film is made of SiO.sub.2, ZrO.sub.2 - Y.sub.2 O.sub.3, or MgO-SiO.sub.2.
