Abstract
A nonlinear optical element comprising a tetraazaporphyrin compound represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## This nonlinear optical element is excellent in that it is improved over low switching speed of the conventional inorganic materials and over small nonlinearity and poor chemical and physical stability and workability of the conventional organic materials.
