Abstract
A neutralizing agent for effective but mild mass de-acidification of books and other paper products, consisting of a solution of one or more kinds of double alkoxides, each with one alkoxide of a metal promoting solubility, such as group IV metals, aluminum or tin, and one alkoxide of a metal binding the acids in the paper, such as alkali or alkaline earth metals, wherein a non-polar solvent can be used, which exhibits good compatibility with the archive materials.
