Abstract

An oral composition comprises a nonionic antimicrobial or germicidal agent and at least one amphoteric surface active agent selected from the group consisting of compounds of the following general formulae (1) and (2): ##STR1## wherein R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and n and m are independently an integer of from 1 to 10. The composition preferably further comprises an alkyl sulfate.
