Abstract

An unwinding device for rolls of paper or cardboard has a pair of stands which are movable toward and away form one another on release by motors which have sprockets engaging nontraveling chains fixed at their ends relative to the rails. The stands have bearing housings displaceable vertically thereon and carrying heads engaging in the roll and vertically shifted by piston-and-cylinder assembly in the plane of the uprights of the stand.
