A hydridable alloy material represented by the formula AB.sub.5 for the negative electrode of a nickel-hydride storage cell. A represents La.sub.(1-x-y-z) Ce.sub.x Nd.sub.y Pr.sub.z, where 0.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.0.784, 0.ltoreq.z.ltoreq.1, 0.1.ltoreq.x+z, 0<y+z, x+y+z.ltoreq.1, and 0.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.0.205-1.17x+2.39x.sup.2 -1.57x.sup.3 -z(0.23-0.65x+1.18x.sup.2)+z.sup.2 (0.18-0.54x), and B represents Ni partially substituted by Mn, Al and Co.
