Abstract
A polyimide foam is prepared by heating a mixture comprising an alkyl ester of 4,4'-oxydiphthalic acid and a diamine at a temperature of 60.degree. to 350.degree. C. This foam is elastic and flame-retardant and has an excellent resistance to acid and alkali.
