Abstract
The device comprises a sensor supplying a sensor signal which varies as a result of the placement of a cooking vessel in a heating zone of a heating appliance. The device includes evaluating circuit which, as a function of the sensor signal, supplies an output signal. The evaluating circuit produces the output signal as a function of the rate of change of the sensor signal to indicate the presence or absence of cookware in the heating zone of the heating appliance.
