Abstract

A thermal transfer printing receiver sheet for use in association with a compatible donor sheet. The receiver sheet comprises in order (i) a supporting substrate comprising a layer of a synthetic polymer having a deformation index, at a temperature of 200.degree. C. and under a pressure of 2 megapascals, of at least 4.5%, (ii) a polymeric intermediate layer having a Transmission Optical Density/film thickness (in mm) ratio of from 7.5 to 17.5, and (iii) a dye-receptive receiving layer to receive a dye thermally transferred from the donor sheet.
