Abstract
Image forming apparatus includes a developing device for toning electrostatic images on an image member such as a photoconductive drum. The development device includes four developing units indexable through a single development position. Applicators for the developing units are fixed together and gimballed with respect to the image member. The applicator at the development position is accurately spaced from the image member by a pair of rollers that ride on rails fixed to the applicators.
