Abstract
A harmful substance remover, which is used to remove any of ethylene, mercaptans, amines and aldehydes, is a solid product having a specific surface area of 100 m.sup.2 /g or more obtained by hydrolyzing a metal alkoxide in the presence or absence of a noble metal. The harmful substance remover is utilized by contacting a harmful substance therewith. Such contacting may take place under irradiation of ultraviolet rays.
