Abstract

The present invention relates generally to paints and paint bases, and, more specifically to a process for providing a stable gel-free dispersion of biocidal amounts of 2,2'-dithiobis(pyridine-1-oxide) or its metal salt adducts of the formula (C.sub.5 H.sub.4 NOS).sub.2 MY.sub.t or their hydrates plus cuprous oxide biocide in paint, where M is an alkaline earth metal, Y is the anion of an organic or inorganic acid, and t is 1 or 2. The resulting paint is storage stable and remains gel-free after several months of storage at room temperature.
