Abstract
Pyridone derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, a haloalkyl group, a haloalkenyl group or an alkoxyalkyl group, X is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a methyl group optionally substituted with mono or poly halogen atoms or an ethyl group optionally substituted with mono or poly halogen atoms and Y is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group. Said compounds show a high herbicidal potency against undesired weeds.
