Abstract

A silver halide photographic material having on a support a hydrophilic colloid layer containing at least one 2-pyrazoline-5-one oxonol dye represented by formula (I) in the form of a dispersion of fine solid particles thereof; ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom, an aryl group, a cyano group, a halogen atom, --COOR.sup.2, --COR.sup.3, --ONR.sup.3 R.sup.4, --OR.sup.2, --NHCOR.sup.3, or --NR.sup.3 R.sup.4 (wherein R.sup.2 represents an alkyl group or an aryl group and R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, or an aryl group); and L.sup.1, L.sup.2, L.sup.3, L.sup.4, and L.sup.5 each represents a methine group.
