Abstract
Compounds of formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl protecting group; R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom or a trialkylsilyl group, and --X--Y-- represents the epoxide group (A) or the alkene group (B). ##STR2## wherein R.sub.3 represents a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group optionally substituted by halogen or an optionally substituted phenyl group, useful as intermediates in the preparation of antibacterially active compound.
