Abstract

Copolymers containing nitrile groups based on ethylenically unsaturated monomers are prepared by reacting the copolymers on which they are based with ammonia at temperatures of from 150.degree. to 270.degree. C. and pressures from 30 to 350 bar in the presence of an aliphatic nitrile and/or dinitrile.
